Alfried Krupp Fellowships at Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald

The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg will award 3 to 5 Alfried Krupp Senior Fellowships and 5 to 8 Alfried Krupp Junior Fellowships for the academic year 2018/19.

The “Alfried Krupp Senior Fellowships” will be awarded to outstanding senior scientists and scholars who are qualified by their achievements in research as well as in teaching.

The “Alfried Krupp Junior Fellowships” will be awarded to highly promising younger post-doctoral scholars.

Through the Fellowship programme of the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg, senior and younger scholars are given the opportunity to concentrate on a major piece of research, free from the full teaching and administrative obligations of ordinary university life. Alfried Krupp Fellows are expected to co-operate with colleagues from the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-University Greifswald. Applicants should attach a research proposal and up to five publications relevant to their project.

Fellows will be invited either for one semester (October 1 – March 31 or April 1 – September 30) or for a full academic year (October 1 – September 30).

Proposals from groups of scholars who plan to pursue an international and interdisciplinary collaborative project in Greifswald are welcome, too. Applicants for a senior fellowship are encouraged to take into account the combination of a sabbatical term granted by their home institution with a fellowship of six months, resulting in a full academic year at the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg.

Alfried Krupp Fellows are paid a competitive research grant. As a rule this grant is tax-free in Germany. Additionally, Alfried Krupp Junior Fellows are provided with an apartment and an office, free of charge, in the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg. Fellows are expected to live in the Institute.

Travelling and laboratory costs are not covered by the Institute. During their stay Alfried Krupp Fellows are expected to complete, or at least to make decisive progress in, a significant research project. The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg would welcome it if Alfried Krupp Senior Fellows were to hold a class for the students of Greifswald University during their stay.
