ISA Bologna Visiting Fellowship

The departments and research centers of the University of Bologna welcome international academics for teaching or research purposes.

What is it?

An opportunity for UniBo professors and researchers to invite scholars from all over the World to foster international exchanges with our Departments and to build new fruitful collaborations.

The invited scholars must have an active permanent or temporary position at university or international research institutions. They are hosted by the UniBo Departments.

The duration of the Fellowship is from 1 to 2 months in periods January-July or August-December.

The Visiting Fellowship provides assignees with:

  • Financial contribution to be chosen between

1) lump-sum compensation to cover travel, transportation, food expenses and possible visa in the gross amount of 800.00 Euros for EU residents and 1,100 Euros for non-EU residents;
2) direct reimbursement of duly documented travel expenses only (up to 800.00 Euros for EU residents and 1,100 Euros for non-EU residents).

  • Accommodation in a fully equipped apartment for two persons in the proximity of the Institute and of the Rectorate.

How to invite a Fellow?

Members of the UniBo academic staff can apply to either one of the two yearly calls for Visiting Fellowship in the first or second semester of the following year.

The application for Visiting Fellowship must be completed online by the University of Bologna hosting academic via the platform POL – Personale Online during the period of the Call for applications.

As a rule, Calls for applications are published on Portale Bandi:

  • at the end of March for period January – July
  • at the end of October for period August – December

The application must contain the following information about the Visiting Fellow:

  • Personal and academic information (name and surname, date and country of birth, residence address, professional position, e-mail address, phone number, university and department of origin, personal website).
  • Short scientific profile 
  • Motivation of the proposal describing the reasons and the planned activities, also in relation to the period of stay
  • Title and synopsis of the ISA lecture that the Visiting Fellow will deliver at the Institute during his/her stay and other teaching activities – if planned – on the Degree and PhD courses of the University of Bologna
  • Preferred and alternative period of stay (the indicated periods will be binding when defining the periods of accommodation assignment, if required)
  • Lodging and economic contribution request
  • An explicit declaration by the Proponent confirming a formal approval by the Head of Department to host the Visiting Fellow (an approval via e-mail is sufficient)
  • A scanned copy of the Visiting Fellow’s valid Passport or ID document  
  • Curriculum vitae et studiorum and publications list covering the last 5 years.
