Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Digital Humanities at Southern Methodist University, Dallas

Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences at Southern Methodist University invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the digital humanities.

The postdoctoral fellow in digital humanities will have earned a PhD in a humanities discipline and will have broad familiarity with the issues, methodologies, and questions that inform digital humanities. The fellow will have the opportunity to continue his or her research over the course of the academic year, and will work with a faculty member on an innovative, yearlong digital humanities/artistic project that blends time-based media and text on a digital platform. The fellow will attend periodic digital humanities symposia on campus, both as a participant and as a resource, and will teach one course in digital humanities during the 2016–2017 academic year, which begins August 1, 2016.

The specific field of the fellow’s research is open, but the successful candidate will be familiar with text- and image-based methodologies and theories, and will have some creative and technical experience with time-based media (e.g., short films or videos). Experience developing apps for mobile computing devices is desirable but not required.

The academic year salary is $50,000, with access to $3000 in research and travel funds.
