University of Wyoming Visiting Senior Scholar in Global Studies
The University of Wyoming Global and Area Studies Program invites applications for a senior scholar-in-residence position to begin in August 2017 or January 2018. Supported by the Wyoming Excellence in Higher Education Endowment, the Visiting Senior Scholar in Global Studies will enrich and broaden UW’s Global and Area Studies Program and in particular our recent focus on human security. Although the specific area of expertise and scholarly interest are flexible, we anticipate that this program will appeal to those individuals on leave or transitioning from a career in public policy, academics on sabbatical, or experts interested in writing or conducting research in an academic setting. The visiting scholar will design and teach one course per semester, orchestrate faculty/student workshops, give public presentations, and/or prepare manuscripts for publication in the area of human security, international affairs, and/or foreign policy. We seek a visiting scholar who will engage students, faculty, and Wyoming citizens in meaningful international discussions of pressing global issues. The visiting scholar will join core faculty with disciplinary backgrounds in political science, sociology, geography, anthropology, and linguistics in internationalization efforts throughout the state of Wyoming.
Senior Scholar Eligibility
The committee seeks applications from mid-to-senior-level career professional with a significant body of work in international affairs and a background in government service, academics, diplomacy, journalism, communication, and/or NGOs with demonstrated interest or experience in the field of human security. Candidates should have the appropriate professional degree for their career path; academic applicants should have a Ph.D. in an appropriate academic discipline.
The appointment is for one semester to begin in fall 2017 or spring 2018. Appointments for up to one academic year may be considered.
