Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation (Iceland)

The role of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation is to combine the powers of universities, science, industry and innovation, thereby enhancing prosperity and creating knowledge-based jobs.

The Ministry’s vision is for Icelandic knowledge and intelligence to be the country’s largest export sector. In addition, the Ministry will work systematically on increasing cybersecurity and electronic communications security, with emphasis on boosting public confidence in information technology. 

Key functions under the auspices of the Ministry are science, university affairs, electronic communications, industry, innovation and affairs relating to an information-centered society. 

The Minister has ultimate responsibility for the Ministry and all of its administrative activities.
