Polonsky Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Polonsky Academy for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences, established by Dr. Leonard Polonsky in 2014, is one of the newest international fellowship programs worldwide that aims to produce cutting-edge research in these fields.

Each year, the Polonsky Academy awards up to seven postdoctoral fellowships, tenable for up to four years, to outstanding international scholars working in any field of the humanities and social sciences.

The Polonsky Academy is committed to providing an environment for research excellence. Polonsky Fellows work under the best possible conditions for innovative research, including professional autonomy, a scholarly community, and a highly efficient network dedicated to supporting fellows in pursuit of their academic goals. They are provided with individual offices, a library, advanced IT, a lecture hall, and multiple meeting spaces in the award-winning facility in which they are housed.

Polonsky Fellows conduct research both independently and in collaboration with ongoing multi-disciplinary projects at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. They emerge from the program as desirable candidates for coveted positions at leading institutions of higher education. Recent past Fellows have gone on to faculty positions at prominent universities, both in Israel (including Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University and Haifa University) and elsewhere (including Oxford, Strasbourg, Humboldt, Radboud, University of California at Riverside, Duke Kunshan and Tsinghua University in Beijing).
