Our Story

Founded in 1953, the American Psychological Foundation (APF) is a grant-making foundation that funds researchers and practitioners using psychology to solve important problems and improve people’s lives.

Beginning with a single award, our flagship Gold Medal Awards, APF has grown to a portfolio of more than 70 programs that disburses over $1 million annually in research funding, academic funding, achievement awards, travel scholarships, and non-research project funding.
