The NATO Defense College currently offers eight fellowships each year in the field of defence and security policy research related to NATO and its Partners. The objective is to promote research and policy analysis in areas of particular interest to the NATO Member States, as well as to countries that are part of the Partnership for Peace (PfP), Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) and Other Military Cooperation (OMC) / Partners Across the Globe (PAG) frameworks. Since the Programme’s inception in 1993, the NDC has awarded more than 120 fellowships.

Fritz Thyssen Fellowships at CEU Budapest Institute for Advanced Study

The Institute for Advanced Study at Central European University in Budapest (IAS CEU) are pleased to invite applications for the Fritz Thyssen Junior fellowships for the academic year 2019/2020. Fellowships are available in all research areas of the social sciences and humanities. Fellowships run for the whole academic year (9 months, October 1- June 30) or for the Fall or Spring semesters (5 months, October 1 to Feb 28 or 6 months (Jan 1 to June 30). Junior fellowships are renewable for another year in exceptional cases and only after an external review process. 

D. Kim Foundation Fellowships in the History of Science and Technology in East Asia

Welcome to the D. Kim Foundation for the History of Science and Technology in East Asia. The Foundation provides fellowships and grants to support graduate students and young scholars who are working in the history of science and technology in modern East Asia, regardless of their nationality, origins, or gender. Comparative studies of East Asia and the West as well as studies in related fields (mathematics, medicine and public health) are also welcome. English is the official language of the Foundation.

Scholarships for International Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, Hamburg

The Max Planck Institute offers a limited number of short-term scholarships (maximum of 4 months) for legal scholars whose primary place of residence is outside of Germany. The scholarships are financed by the Max Planck Society and are awarded each year in connection with two windows of application.

Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships at the Wolf Humanities Center

The Wolf Humanities Center awards five (5) one-year Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships each academic year to junior scholars in the humanities who are no more than five years out of their doctorate. Preference will be given to candidates not yet in tenure track positions, whose proposals are interdisciplinary, who have not previously enjoyed use of the resources of the University of Pennsylvania, and who would particularly benefit from and contribute to Penn's intellectual life.

KHK/GCR21 Duisburg-Essen Fellowship for Global Cooperation Research

The Käte Hamburger Kolleg/Centre for Global Cooperation Research (KHK/GCR21) invites applications for Research Fellowships with duration of 6 to 12 months starting between March and June 2020 . Proposals regarding

  • pathways and mechanisms of global cooperation and
  • global cooperation under conditions of polycentric governance

are especially welcome.

The fully funded fellowships are available to both senior and postdoctoral researchers across the humanities and social sciences. Deadline for applications is June 2nd, 2019.
