NUFFIELD COLLEGE SOCIOLOGY VISITORSHIPS

The Nuffield College Sociology Group invites applications for a Visitorship at the College between January and June in 2025.

The scheme is open to established academics and others who wish to pursue their research in Oxford in the field of Sociology, broadly defined to include Sociology, Social Policy, and Demography. Please note that the scheme is not open to doctoral candidates or masters students.

The Visitorship normally lasts between one and six months (longer visits to August 2025 may be considered). It does not carry a stipend, but accommodation in a College guestroom (suitable for an individual or a couple) and meals are provided, along with library privileges and access to Nuffield IT facilities.

The deadline for applications to be considered for visits in 2025 is Monday 9 October 2023. Applications should be sent to academic.admin@nuffield.ox.ac.uk. They should include a CV and an outline (maximum 2 pages) of the research to be pursued during the Visitorship.

Sociology Group Visitors are expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the College and, therefore, it is expected that their areas of research and methodological approach will overlap to some degree with those of one or more of the Professorial Fellows and Official Fellows of the College.

Informal inquiries can be made of the chair of the Sociology group, Richard Breen (richard.breen@nuffield.ox.ac.uk) or any of the College’s Sociology Group Professorial Fellows or Official Fellows.
