“Diversity assent in urban Germany”

The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Göttingen (Department for Socio-Cultural Diversity) is seeking to appoint a research fellow (m/f/d).

The position is for two years with an envisaged start on 1 July 2023.

Successful applicants should either work on attitudes to diversity or related practices, they would become part of a a team conducting the project “Diversity assent in urban Germany”. Good quantitative skills would be an advantage.

Alternatively, applicants should work on politics of diversity, equality, anti-discrimination and anti-racism; migration-related policy change. In line with the departmental focus, projects should relate to European contexts.

Requirements

Applicants should have a degree and a PhD (at least thesis submitted) in sociology, political science, anthropology, geography, or with a related interdisciplinary profile. Good spoken and written English is required. The working language of the Institute is English.

Position details

Salary is based on the German collective agreement for civil servants (TVöD), level E 13.
Regular presence at the Institute is required (50%). Researchers need to reside within commuter distance of Göttingen.

The Max Planck Society is mainly funded by German Federal and State Governments (see www.mpg.de).
