EU-Lac Foundation Open Call for Research Projects

Under the Foundation's regular Open Call, researchers and consortia may apply for grants of up to 25,200€ (30,000€ gross amount) to fund research projects on topics of relevance for the relationship between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean. Each edition of the Open Call awards one research project. The Foundation will publish the results of the selected study.

In view of the large number of applications from a broad spectrum of academic disciplines for the previous calls (incl. natural sciences, medicine), the Foundation has decided to narrow the focus of eligible proposals. The current edition of the Open Call for the Second Semester 2015 welcomes research proposals from among academic disciplines pertaining to the realm of social sciences and the humanities (e.g., Political Science, Sociology, Economics, History). We consider dedicating an upcoming Open Call in 2016 to the other abovementioned academic disciplines.

A project is eligible if the applicant

  • is affiliated with a research institution in the European Union or Latin America and the Caribbean;
  • proposes a research project in the field of social sciences or the humanities concerning the bi-regional relationship and/or related with the EU-LAC bi-regional cooperation;
  • can carry out the project in English or Spanish.

The maximum duration of the research project should not exceed nine (9) months.

The Open Call is part of the Foundation’s effort to promote mutual knowledge and visibility of the partnership among the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean Stimulating debate on issues that are relevant to the EU-LAC agenda enables the Foundation, within its work programme “Explore”, to propose ways of cooperating on these issues in the bi-regional relationship.
