Sciences Po Bordeaux is a selective, multidisciplinary and international education and research institution, in human and social sciences.

A major school at the heart of Bordeaux University

Sciences Po Bordeaux is one of the ten French Institutes of Political Studies. Founded in 1948, it now has more than 2,300 students, including all statuses. The school is located in the heart of an exceptional university site, the Pessac-Talence-Gradignan campus, 20 minutes from the center of Bordeaux. It is a public institution of higher education of an administrative nature, which is associated with the University of Bordeaux by agreement. It is part of the Conférence des Grandes Écoles and the Convention de Coopération Territoriale de Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

An attractive training offer

According to the act that created it, Sciences Po Bordeaux's mission is to train managerial staff for the public, semi-public and private sectors. Schooling at Sciences Po Bordeaux lasts five years. The diploma awarded by the institution confers a Master's degree. Students can enter in the first year (the year of their French baccalaureate), in the third and fourth years, or in the first year in the integrated binational program, in all cases after passing a selection test. Sciences Po Bordeaux offers nearly 20 master’s courses in specialization, some of which propose apprenticeship programms. Continuing education and preparation centers for public service competitions complete the range of courses on offer. The Bordeaux establishment is a « Grande École » whose credibility is based both on a well-established tradition (multidisciplinary and participatory teaching) and on the most modern tools (digital work environment and teaching innovations).

A major pole of research in political science

The quality of the training offered, both in the context of the diploma program of the Institut d'Études Politiques and in its doctoral program, are largely due to the excellent reputation of its HSS research center. The institution's research policy is based primarily on two laboratories associated with the CNRS : the Centre Émile Durkheim and Les Afriques dans le Monde.

Development, social responsibility and internationalization

Sciences Po Bordeaux ranks high in terms of social and international policy : actually, 30% of its students are grant holders. 25£ of its students are, for their part, international. Therefore Sciences Po Bordeaux demonstrates that social diversification and internationalization (95% of students entering the bachelor's program study abroad) are two key priorities in the institution's general policy.

Finally, Sciences Po Bordeaux has a rich and diversified community life and an alumni network of more than 10,000 graduates who contribute to the dynamic and constant reinvention of the institution.
